Hey!

After your 10th grade, you can pick any of the arts or humanities, commerce, or science streams based on your interests for your 10 + 2 and ultimately graduation. This is because you do not have to be a graduate in a certain field to be eligible for UPSC examinations; all you need to be eligible is a graduate in any discipline, therefore you are free to complete 10+2 and graduation in any subject. To be eligible for the UPSC Civil Services exam, one must have a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university, as mandated by under the law.

IAS Educational qualification

Bachelor's degree (BA, B.Com, B.Sc, BBA, BCA, B.Tech etc.) with at least one of the subjects notely Animal Husbandry and  Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering from recognised or acknowledged university or college.

What you can start doing from 10th onwards is reading daily newspapers for enhancement in your general knowledge and current affairs. Whatever stream you would choose after your 10th, you will have to focus on the subjects so as to strengthen your core knowledge of the subject.

Hello,

After 10th standard you have to pursue your choice of stream as in science, humaniites, commerce in 11th and 12th standard respectively. If you have interest in humaniites stream, then you can go ahead with this as in future if you pursue graduation in the similar domain, the preparation process for UPSC will be comparatively easier as you would have already been well acquainted with the core part of UPSC syllabus consisting of history, polity, economics, geography etc, in case you're not sure if you really want to opt for UPSC only, then you can go ahead with science or commerce stream at 11th and 12th standard, and further pursue graduation in your preferred domain, see there is no such restrictions of belonging to specific stream for graduation in order to apply for UPSC, candidates from all kinds of backgrounds such as engineering, medical, commece qualify this exam, but what you need to understand is what are your areas of interest, in which domain you want to go ahead with your career, there are various options in case you want to have back up plan, and right now if you're in class 10th then you're still young, there is long time to appear for the exam, hence go ahead with what subjects and domain you find interesting, as I said there ia no hard and fast rule that having studied only specific subjects in graduation will help you qualify UPSC, as toppers come from various backgrounds.
