Dear Diary,

Tonight, I faced the grim reality of the workhouse's cruelty. The sight of the board's stern faces and the harshness of their judgment left me shattered. I returned to my cold, lonely bed with tears streaming down my cheeks. The pangs of hunger gnaw at my stomach, but the emotional pain is far worse. I feel so small and powerless in this vast, unforgiving world. The hope I once clung to is fading, replaced by a deep, aching despair. I long for kindness and warmth, but it seems so far out of reach.
