You can only sit in JOSAA counselling if you have cleared your category based cut-off for JEE Mains . If you have not cleared the cut-off then you are not able to sit in JOSAA counselling . Now the JEE Mains cut-off for all categories is given below.

• CRL/General -- 90.37
• EWS -- 70.24
• OBC-NCL --72.88
• ST --  39.06
• SC -- 50.17
• PwD -- 0.06

Now compare your respective cut-off from the above. Also if you are able to participate in JOSAA counselling and getting some good college then there is no need to take admission in private colleges. But if you are not able to take part in this counselling , then you must try private college.
