Aiims is based on ncert books but most of the questions come from outside ncert for physics and organic/physical chemistry. The questions have concepts of the ncert books only, but questions are of a higher level for which it is necessary to practice other books. For biology a significant number of questions come directly from the ncert but there are questions every year that come from outside the ncert lines, for eg, if a topic or term is just mentioned in the ncert book without further description, aiims can have questions from there. For inorganic chemistry, most of the questions come from ncert books, but there are few from outside too. Also pay special attention extra points in the ncert books.
