Are the seats available for Mtech in any IITs State-dependent? Like, only a certain number of students will be admitted from each state and not more than "that number".

Hey Sudarshan

Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) does not have any state quota in Undergraduate or Post graduate programs. From which ever state the candidate belongs to does not matter for IIT, what matters is the candidates's performance and scores.

IITs being the most reputed colleges prefer to have quality students especially for PG programs like M.Tech and M.Sc and so that is the reason GATE/JAM have high cutoffs and special interview rounds in various IITs are conducted.

The state quota can be found in NITs' and State colleges like Delhi Technology University, Jadavpur.

For further doubts, ask us. All the best

Thank you for the answer. I'm glad that it is that way; was concerned about it.
