Hello Rahul! If you meet the eligibility criteria for writing UGEE exam, then you can surely fill the form. Being in first year of engineering will not be an obstacle to fulfill eligibility norms.

Eligibility criteria for UGEE exam-

~ Student must have passed 12th or equivalent with an aggregate of 60% in physics, Chemistry and maths.

OR

~ Student must have passed 12th with science stream and should have cleared NTSE(National talent search examination) -Level 2/ KVPY.

NOTE- Being in first year of your engineering will not strip off you from applying for UGEE. If you fulfill above mentioned criteria, then you can surely apply.

Yes you are eligible to write the Undergraduate Entrance Examination. But you need to keep in mind that in case you wish to do so, you cannot mentioned anywhere in your application that you are already pursuing a degree. This one year that you have studied will hold no relevance and will be viewed as a year gap in your resume in future.
