If you're an undergraduate and planning to enter the banking sector, it's a good idea to begin your preparation early. While most major banking exams like IBPS Clerk, SBI Clerk, RBI Assistant, and LIC Assistant require a graduation degree as the minimum eligibility, starting your preparation while pursuing your degree gives you a head start.

These exams are highly competitive and test your skills in subjects like quantitative aptitude, reasoning ability, English language, general awareness, and computer knowledge. Preparing for these sections early improves your speed and accuracy, which is very important during the exam.

Some private banks offer entry-level roles to undergraduates like customer service executives, sales associates, or teller posts, but the growth in such jobs might be limited compared to government or public sector banks. Still, they can provide some work experience if you're looking to step into the banking field early.

You can also explore exams like IBPS RRB Office Assistant or cooperative bank recruitments, as they sometimes have varying criteria. Additionally, many banks release recruitment notifications every year, and most of them follow a common pattern prelims, mains, and interview for officer-level posts. So, it's good to follow previous year papers and standard books early on.
