Hello Akhilesh,
Thanks for contacting Careers360.
Photography is a skill based career. Earlier photographers had been restricted to capture happenings at various events, weddings, and movies; however, now professional photographers are involved in the mass media, advertising, and e-commerce.
To become a professional photographer in India, you can get a degree in Photography (Bachelors or Masters) along with some diploma courses, the duration of which may vary between 3 months to 1 year. It is not necessary to have a proper 3-year degree in Photography as it might narrow your career options. Going forward with professional or a research based 3-year degree course is recommended. One of the recommended degree to pursue Photography as a career could be Bachelors in Media and Mass Communication. As Photography is more skill based career, opting for diploma courses, attending workshops and working under some trained photographer as an Intern or Full-time employee can be an edge for you.
