Yes surely you can apply for the CPT examination for pursuing CA after becoming professor from commerce. The eligibility criteria is that you must have passed your 10+2 from a recognized board or university. You also need to crack the CPT examination. And you need to have 60% and above percentage in your graduation. There is no upper age limit to pursue the chartered accountancy course.
