Hi Somnath,

As you have asked about the data scientist career and whether you can opt that after your B.Tech. in ECE. The answer to your question is yes, you can. The basic requirement that you need to have is the knowledge of software and most importantly data analysis. Here are some of the steps to know how to become a data scientist. I hope this will help you.

Step 1: Students are expected to complete the 10 + 2 successfully by obtaining at least 50 per cent marks from any recognised board of India in the science stream consisting of physics, chemistry, and mathematics, computer science as compulsory subjects. They do need to study economics and statistics to get a clearer understanding of the course.

Entrance Examination: Many institutes and colleges undertake admissions examinations. Schools are expected to begin preparing for the entrance examinations to appear.  The admissions are received mostly on the grounds of the candidates' results in the entrance test. There are also other universities that offer admissions centred on a 10 + 2 passing mark. The selection criteria differ in terms of marks and the enrollment procedure from university to university.

Popular entrance examinations

JEE Mains: Joint Entrance Examination Mains

JEE Advanced: Joint Entrance Examination Advanced

VITEEE: Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination

BITSAT: Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test

SRMJEE: SRM Joint Entrance Examination Engineering

Bachelor's programme: To get your step into the career as a data scientist at the entrance level, you will require at least a bachelor's degree in data science, mathematics, statistics, computing science. You have been then awarded a bachelor's degree and you need to work on developing the skills required for the job through short undergraduate learning courses. Upon successful completion of 10 + 2 students will be able to register in the bachelor's degree course. The common bachelor's degree programmes we listed below.

Popular bachelor’s degrees

B.Tech. (Bachelor of Technology) in Information Technology

B.Tech. (Bachelor of Technology) in Computer Science

B.Sc. (Bachelor of Science) Mathematics

B.Sc. (Bachelor of Science) Physics

B.Sc. (Bachelor of Science) Computer Science

Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering)

Bachelor of Technology (Electrical Engineering)

Post bachelor: After completing a bachelor's degree programme, students have many choices to uplift their future career. We listed the two key alternatives below to make it much easier for you all to choose the most decent career with less obstacles.

Option 1: Having a master's degree in data science could even help you achieve a wide range of skills which can be applied to a wide range of tech-related career opportunities like data engineering, architectural design, or computer technology. After completion of a bachelor’s degree, students can directly opt for a master's degree in a related field like computer science, information engineering or cybersecurity will prepare you for a data science profession. Data scientists are holding more PhDs than any other profession.

Option 2: Students may begin to work in an entry-level role in the business after their bachelor's degree program. And then can apply for a master's degree after achieving an experience of some years.

Popular master’s degree and doctorate programmes

Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics

M.Tech. (Master of Technology) in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence

MBA in Data Sciences & Data Analytics

M.Tech. (Master of Technology) in Data Science and Engineering

Hi there Somnath. Hope you're having a great day.

Well, you should have an idea about what a data scientist is and what is data science. This profession is not at all inter-related with the ECE stream and that being said, you can opt for various institutes that give a degree in Data Science and also high level training. One of the elite institutes which has a developed course for Data science is MIT in Massachusetts which you can join after having a good knowledge about the basics of data science from a reputed Institute in India.

Hope this helps. Thank you.
