Yes, it is possible to change branch after 1st year as the subjects in first year are almost same throughout all the branches of engineering. But there are some criteria like you must have CGPA over 8 in a scale of 10. However this criterion varies from one institute to another. You must not have any backlogs in first year. Your attendance percentage in first year also plays a great role. For this you have to contact with your college authority and apply within the stipulated time. The college will check if there is availability of seats in that branch where you want to get into. If vacant seats are there, admission is possible.
