You have not mentioned any exam or college. Nevertheless, you can go for internal sliding before second year of your engineering. If there are vacancies available in the branch you want to change then you can request the management to change the branch. For that you need to reach the administration department and they will help you with the procedure and details.

Yes ,every college provides the facility of branch changing after first year. If you want to change your branch due to some reason you can change it in the second year. This is made on the basis of the merit. And it is done if there is any vacancy in the branch which you wish to take .

So if you want you can change in the second year.
