Chennai is home for many top colleges and Universitites. For Private universities like SRM,VIT etc you need write a spearate enterance test conducted by the university (SRMJEE and VITEEE). Based on your marks , ranks will be published and you'll be called for counselling. For colleges under Anna University, you need to apply in TNEA, which is purely based on your class 12 marks. Your cutoff out of 200, will be calculated (maths+((P+C)/2)) and ranks will be publsihed based on your cutoff. I'll attach a link below for your reference.
