Hi Buddy,

For admission into NIT's or IIT's without Gate rank you need to be a BTech student from IIT with minimum cpi of 7.0. Or else you should be a sponsored student by some employer, but that requires experience in that field.

i'll quote eligibility criteria posted by IITG,

All regular category candidates ( except those having BTech degrees from an IIT with a minimum CPI of 7.0 ) must possess a valid score of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). For eligibility for financial assistance for regular category candidates .

There are many universities conducting their own exam/interview for gate. You can apply for those too.
