Well it is very tough to get into any NIT with this rank with obc category , with OS (open state) option you cannot get any nit with this rank but since i dont know your home state here are a few NIT's you can get if you belong to the corresponding home states

Also i have stated two categories HS(Home State) 50% seats are reserved for this quota if you belong to home state of a particular NIT and  OS(Open State) other 50% quota which include all the other categories from other states.Based on previous years analysis here are the colleges you can get if you have one of them as your home state-

1)NIT Hamirpur (Home state quota)

branches available with above mentioned rank: CSE(Dual degree Btech+Mtech),Civil Engg, Chemical Engg, ECE(Dual degree Btech+Mtech),Materials and Engg, Mechanical Engg.

2)NIT Srinagar(Home state quota)

branches available with above mentioned rank: CSE,Civil Engg, Electrical Engg, ECE,Metallurgical and Materials Engg, Mechanical Engg.

3)NIT Manipur(Home state quota)

branches available with above mentioned rank: Civil Engg, Electrical Engg

4)NIT Jalandhar(Home state quota)

branches available with above mentioned rank:  Mechanical Engg.

Hi Vinay, hope you are doing well, yes  with the rank of 79879 you can get into some of the nits which are not so popular. By counselling you can surely get any one of the NITS. But I suggest you go for IIITS or some good private institutes so that you can even get your desired stream as well.
