If you want to get admission in top colleges of IITs and NITs then you need the rank around 4000 even when you belong from ST category. But with a rank of 10,000 you may get admission in low ranked NITs and that too not sure.

Getting admission to NIT with a rank of 10,000 in the ST category can be really tough but not impossible. The admission to NITs is mainly based on JEE Main. Cut off ranks vary for different courses in various NITs.

The cutoffs are, in general, far low for popular streams like Computer Science and Engineering. At times, it falls from 1000 up to 5000 or even more in the open category. However, in specialized or lesser sought-after domains, such cutoff ranks can go really high. Being an ST category candidate may give you some relaxation in the cutoffs for the general category, thus increasing your chances.

Apply to other NITs as well and look for the different branches where you can apply and that are of your interest and have low cutoff ranks. Monitor the official counseling notification for further information on admission processes and seat availability.
