Depending on university or college policy, entrance exams may or may not be required for BSc courses. If there is no entrance exam, students are admitted to the courses based on their merit, which is assessed by their marks in the 10+2 final exams.

But the top universities give admission on the basis of your score in entrance test. So if you want to study in the best university, you are required to appear for entrance test.
