Hello dear aspirant,

The mininum qualification for gate examination is that the candidate must hold Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology.Candidates also who are in the final year of such programs are eligible for writing gate examination.
Hence,one can't give gate examination  just by have intermediate degree.

GATE exam is for Postgraduation and Doctoral programmes in Engineering and Technology. You need to have a BE/B.Tech or an M.Sc or MCA to be eligible for GATE. You cannot appear for GATE right after 12th.
