Yes you can give the JEE Mains Exam if you are currently studying in class 12th and appearing in your 12th board exam for giving the exam you must be 12th passed or appearing and if you have passed than with 75% for the unreserved category and 65% for the reserved category. And you can attempt the paper 4 times means there 4 attempts for the paper if you fulfil the eligibility criteria.

JEE MAINS allows a maximum number of 3 attempts. The first attempt is on the year of 10+2 examination, then second attempt and 3rd attempt are the consecutive years after 10+2.

So you are eligible to appear for the JEE MAINS if and only if you are giving your 10+2 boards in that year only. If you are just promoted from 11 to 12 then you aren't eligible.

For example, if you have your boards in March,2022 then you are eligible for the JEE MAINS 2022.
