Yes Definitely. The first step to getting admitted to an IIM is writing the CAT. The CAT is a highly competitive exam that is given by approximately 1.96 lakh candidates.
The CAT is composed of two sections, the Quantitative Aptitude/Data Interpretation and the Verbal Ability/Logical Reasoning.

It's kind of a trend you can say, it's the most preferred option of IITians.
Definitely, this can fetch you better jobs and sharpen up your business and marketing skills.
Though no matter you are from IIT, you have to clear CAT in order to get a seat in IIM.

Abhay, IIT is an undergraduate degree, which you take up after you complete your 12the class. And CAT is the entrance for MBA, which is a post graduate degree.

That is, to do MBA, you have to take a undergraduate degree in any discipline . And if you do engineering, then you will give cat after 4 years. So there is no sense preparing for CAT, now.

Better focus on your IIT preparation.
Because for CAT, undergraduate degree is important.
