I have a 73% in class X, 54% in XII and 57% in graduation can i get admission in any IIM ?

Snehlata Sinha Student Expert 5th Sep, 2019

Hey,

We all know that CAT is one of the most difficult exam in India. Since your past academic records are not that much good,  so you have to score a good percentile in CAT so as to get an interview call from top IIMs.

You will need atleast a 98 or 99 percentile in the CAT exam so as to get the interview call from IIM.

Hope this helps.

Deepshikha Student Expert 30th Sep, 2019
Hey,
Well, different IIMs have different set of eligibility criteria. See,either you have to exceptionally brilliant in your academics or just as great in extracurricular activities which can give your appreciation edge over others.
Even if you are academically just avereage but your CAT score is as high as 98 percent or above just like in your case, you  would dedefinitely get a call from IIM.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.

I have a 92% in 10th , 83% in 12th but 70% in my btech can I get admission in any iim?

Priyaanka Sarkar Student Expert 4th Sep, 2019
Dear Kousik,  there are 20 IIMS and each IIM has a different selection criteria. While CAT score remains the main criteria for selection, IIMs also consider other factors like previous academic performance, work experience, gender and Academic diversity. Because CAT exam will be held at different slots, CAT scores will be normalised to ensure equivalence in the difficulty levels of the exams for both slots. IIM Kozikhode will normalise the CAT scores using percentile equivalence. Adjustment of location and scale differences of score distributions across different norms and then scores will be normalised. These scores will be then converted into percentiles for shortlisting and selection purposes.

IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Calcutta and IIM Bangalore conduct their admission process separately.

The newly established IIMs follow a Common Admission Process which is also called CAP. The shortlisted candidates will have to appear for a Common Written Ability Test and Personal Interview Rounds. A separate Institute wise merit list will be prepared and this merit list will be declared based on individual admission and selection criteria.

IIM Sirmaur, IIM Jammu, IIM Nagpur will release their own merit list according to the CAT score or percentile and profile of the Candidate. There are no further rounds for these Institutions.

Few IIMs like IIM Kozikhode considers only your Graduation and 12th marks and not 10th marks. If you look at its shortlisitng criteria:

CAT Overall Index Score carried 75% weightage

Class 12 percentage carried 7.5% weightage

Graduation score carried 7.5% weightage

Work Experience carried 5% weightage

Academic diversity factor carried 5% weightage

So if CAT score gets 75% of the weightage, your CAT percentile should be nothing less than 95 if you want to get into any of the IIMs. More or less the rest 19 IIMs share the same criteria and when there is WAT, GD and PI is involved, the weightage shifts.

FMS, Delhi needs 95 percentile.

IIM Shillong: 92 percentile

NITIE Mumbai: 91 percentile

IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, IIM Indore, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Tiruchirapalli, MDI Gurgaon, IIM Udaipur, IIM Rohtak, IIM Ranchi, IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IMT Ghaziabad, IMI New Delhi, XIM Bhubaneshwar and New IIMS need 90 percentile.

Now if your target is top B-School, your percentile should be between 85-90, so forth and so on. We shall help you with the CAT percentiles for few IIMs to give you an idea of what your score needs to be:

IIMs shortlist candidates for the interview stage based on their own criteria, which may be independent of each other. The process may include Written Ability Test, Group Discussion, and Personal Interviews. Performance in the CAT examination is an important component in the admission process. IIMs may additionally use other factors such as the previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experience, gender and academic diversity and other similar inputs in shortlisting and ranking of candidates at various stages of the admission process. The processes, academic cut-offs and the weights allocated to the evaluation parameters may vary across IIMs.

my graduation score is 62% and 10th-72 12th -70 how much percentile is require for iim my category is pwd

Aditi Amrendra Student Expert 4th Sep, 2019
Hello,

All IIMs have different percentage criteria.
You should taget for at least 90+ percentile.Generally academics form around 15-20% of weightage on an average. So If you score well in cat it will nullify the low academic scores for you. Try to get good percentage in graduation too.

I hope this helps.

Harshita Sharan Srivastava Student Expert 3rd Sep, 2019
Hello aspirant,

As per the information provided by you, your score in academics are too low for getting you into IIM. Now most of the IIMs take admission on the basis of both cat score and acads. When it'll come to academics your score is too low to get you a call from iim. To get complete details on admission into IIM please visit the given link:-

Pgp, fabm, etc, what are these terms in iim of cat application form, can I have to fill all iim related to this term?

Priyaanka Sarkar Student Expert 2nd Sep, 2019
Dear Rahul, these are various programmes offered at various IIMs.

  • PGP-FABM is a Post Graduate Programme in Food and Agri Business Management course offered in IIM Ahmedabad. The selection of candidates for admission to PGP-FABM at IIM Ahmedabad is a two-step process. In the first step, candidates will be short-listed for Group Discussion and Personal Interviews from among candidates who have applied for the programme and have a valid CAT score and satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme.

  • PGP stands for Post Graduation Programme in Management

In regards to Selection of IIM Programmes and Cities, you can select any no.of programmes and cities. Make sure you select the same city for Interview across. And for exam centre, you can give 4 options and the authorities will select your exam city for you. So in short, you have to select the programme that you are interesred in that particular IIM.
