No you definitely cannot get admission into any nits by just attempting or even just qualifying the exam .
As nits are one of the most sought after college in feild of engineering so they have high cutoffs for the candidates to get admission.
To get admission into any lower nits though you have to get all india rank below 30000 to get admission into any non core branches in any nit.
