The Alagappa University has released notification for admission to the programmes offered in the University Departments and Constituent Colleges.

Yes the Alagappa University is a participating college for TANCET exam. Through TANCET candidates may get admission in Alagappa University.

Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test is a state-level exam, organized by Anna University. The exam is conducted for programmes such as M.B.A., M.C.A. and M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.Plan.
Candidates who have completed/ are in their final year of Graduation can apply.
Masters in any discipline of science is also accepted.

Candidates who have passed 10+2 or possess a 10+3 years diploma certificate from the State Board of Technical Education are eligible.

Candidates with a valid GATE Score with qualifying marks in relevant discipline of Engineering /Technology need not appear for TANCET.

Candidates, who have a valid GATE score with qualifying marks in Engineering Science (XE) and Life Science (XL), have to appear for TANCET.

I went through the eligibility criteria given by ACTECH for MTech Admission, It said

"Candidates must have a valid GATE Score with qualifying score for assistant ship in    appropriate discipline of Engineering/ Technology (or) They must have a recent    TANCET score, that is conducted by Anna University. "

So yes, you can join in ACTECH without TANCET but you need GATE score in that sense.

Alagappa university accepts the TANCET marks, first priority is to the higher marks students, and tancet marks is necessary for admission.

You can get it without tancet marks but the probability is too low (this case is allowed when there is vacant seat in last counselling).
