Hello,

No, You cannot do B.Tech in IIT without clearing JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Unless you qualify and get the required cut-off in JEE Advanced you cannot do B.Tech in IITs. Candidates qualifying JEE Advanced, have to register on the official website of the Joint Seat Allocation Authority for participating in the JoSAA counseling. Final admittance is given to the students on the basis of the marks secured in JEE Advanced, participation in JoSSA counselling, choice filling, choice locking, document verification, and fee payment.

Hello Aspirant,

If you are seeking admission in engineering courses offered by IITs then JEE-Advance is the only way and you have to clear it anyhow and to appear in JEE-Advance you first need to qualify JEE-Main of that year.

For your reference let me make you understand the eligibility and number of attempts for JEE-Main and JEE-Advance through an example, let's suppose you are passing your class 12th in 2022, then you will be eligible for JEE-Main 2022, 2023 and 2024, which in all makes you eligible for total 12 sessions because you can appear for maximum of three years consecutively for JEE-Main after passing class 12th which includes the passing year of class 12th as well and in every year there would be 4 sessions so you will get total 12 attempts for JEE-Main. Now for JEE-Advance you can only appear if you qualify JEE-Main of that year, like you will only be eligible for JEE-Advance 2022 and 2023, provided that you qualify JEE-Main 2022 and 2023 respectively because for JEE-Advance on can appear only for maximum of 2 years consecutively which includes the passing year of class 12th as well. Note that even if you qualify JEE-Main 2024 then also you will not be considered for JEE-Advance 2024 if you are going to pass class 12th in 2022.

So for any candidate there are total 12 attempts allowed for JEE-Main in 3 consecutive years and 2 attempts in 2 consecutive years for JEE-Advance, as per the current norms.
