The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science for admission into the Masters Program and Recruitment by some Public Sector Companies. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering also referred as GATE is a national level entrance test which is regulated by IITs & IISC rotationally. This exam will be conducted for those aspirants looking for admissions in M.Tech/ME and other Programmes provided by IITs, NITs and other institutions and colleges.
The GATE exam is tough, It can be managed with the right preparation. It's also not entirely accurate to say that the GATE exam is tough as a whole. Instead, you should think of the layer-based difficulty, i.e., subjects covered, number of questions to be answered, time management, and so on.
The purpose of the GATE exam is to test students knowledge and understanding of their under Graduate level subjects in Engineering and Science. The GATE score of the candidate is also used by several public sector undertakings (PSU) (i.e., government-owned companies like Indian Oil, GAIL, and Hindustan Petroleum etc. Recruitment in various PSUs is usually conducted on the basis of GATE scores. While all of the candidates are needed to have qualified GATE with the required cutoff, the specific scores for the recruitment will be announced by each company.
