In case you are not able to fix your photograph in the given area I don't recommend sticking it left or right of the given space.

Instead here are some tips:

1. You can do try trimming the edges of the photo such that your face and a bit of shoulder is properly visible. See, it is ok that the photo takes a little bit of extra space and the written content does not get hidden.

2. If still the problem persist then you can go with the smallest size, that is, stamp size photograph.
