Go for Lateral Entry Courses at VIT as they are much better than SRM one's. Also, Engineering is not about getting a job. Forget it, instead its all about creating jobs and having impact on society.

There is no special mention about the lateral entry cases on SRM's webiste, but you can write an email to them and they'll let you know.

Also, the job opportunities are pretty much the same as it is for the people who have completed Higher secondary (10+2). Civil is a good branch, companies like Lafarge pay very well for core civil work, while infosys and other mass recruiters are always available.
