Hello!!!

Yes you can change your branch / stream in your first year of engineering. But you need to know that different colleges will have different eligibility criteria for this.   you need to be top 3 in your present branch/stream then you can swap/ change your branch under availability of seats in respective branches. Note ::: this criteria is for all NITs students , since I mentioned earlier Diff colleges will Diff criteria,  please go through individual college's websites once

hi,

see its not clear what you have meant by group, however in every engineering college for first year candidates there is a certain marks need to secure in first year  to change the engineering stream from one to other, you can change your stream when you have completed the first year, since first year syllabus is common to all.
