Hi,

Around 50 subjects are offered by UPSC to candidates to choose their optional subject for the civil services mains exam.

Out of these, 23 are literature of languages and English literature is one of them, and it is quite famous is the optional subject among UPSC aspirants

So, Yes you can definitely take English optional subject for your UPSC examination
