Good afternoon here's the details
CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education)
Yes, but with limits:
July Session: You can appear for 1 subject (or 2 in Class 10) alongside compartment students
Next Year (Feb–March): You can appear for up to 5 subjects as a private candidate
Important: You cannot be enrolled in college if you're giving improvement exams
NEP 2020 Reform (All Boards from 2026)
As per the CBSE Draft Scheme:
Students will be allowed to take board exams twice in a year
This applies to Class 10 and 12, starting from 2026
The best score from the two attempts will be considered
State Boards (WBBSE, UP Board, etc.)
Most state boards do not currently allow two improvement attempts in the same year
You usually get one chance in the year following your board result
Some boards may allow compartment + improvement separately, but not two full improvements
Hey Konpal:)
Unfortunately,no,you can't write improvement exams twice in the same year.
They are usually conducted a few months after the regular boards results. You can appear for one or more subjects in that attempt to improve your marks .If you're still not satisfied, you'll have to wait until the next year improvement exam session
