JEE Main is an entrance examination for admission to B.E/B.Tech, B.Arch and B.Plan. You need to appear for JEE Main paper 1 if you want to get admission in to B.E/B.Tech and if you want to get admission in to B.Arch you need to appear for JEE Main Paper 2A and for admission to B.Plan you need to appear for JEE Main Paper 2B. Based on JEE Main score you can get admission in NITs/IIITs/GFTIs. You can appear for one or all papers. Several private colleges and state government colleges also accepts JEE Main score. Candidates qualifying in JEE Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. So if you want to get admission in to IITs you can appear for JEE advanced if you qualify in JEE Main. You may appear only for JEE Main if you want to get admission in NITs/IIITs/GFTIs and other colleges accepting JEE Main score.
In 2020 the JEE Main qualifying cut off percentile was as follows category wise
Cut off may increase or decrease every year depending on number of candidates appeared, difficulty level of exam and number of seats available etc.
The eligibility criteria to appear for JEE Main is that a candidate must have passed 10+2 with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry from a recognized board.
