Chalk is very less soluble in water . The chalk compund is CaCO3 . The solubility of calcium carbonate in water is extremely low , So very minute amount is soluble in water . And the rest would remain solid.

Chalk is insoluble in water.It comprises of CaCO3 and as the Ca and Carbonate bond are very tightly bonded with each other and thus chalk remain in its crystal structure when you put in water.
