Dear Pabitra, there are 20 IIMS and almost 100 Institutions that accept CAT score. le the basic eligibility criteria remains 50% aggregate for General Category in Graduation, its 45% for Reserved Categories or equivalent CGPA from any recognised University. The admission criteria of each IIM is independant to mandate their own eligibility criteria including CAT score, accademic cut offs, past academic performance, relevant work experience, etc. Selection of Candidates for Institutions accepting CAT scores depends upon the Institution you are interested in. The basic step is to check your CAT score and few Institutions conduct further rounds like Written Ability Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The weightage will be given to both the procedures while selecting a Candidate. Candidates will mostly be shortlisted based on their CAT scores. The 20 IIMS and all the Participating Institutions will announce their Cut offs. The cut off is prepared after checking various factors. MBA aspirants will have to apply separately to all the Colleges that accept CAT scores. While CAT score remains the main criteria for selection, IIMs also consider other factors like previous academic performance, work experience, gender and Academic diversity.

IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Calcutta and IIM Bangalore conduct their admission process separately.

The newly established IIMs follow a Common Admission Process which is also called CAP. The shortlisted candidates will have to appear for a Common Written Ability Test and Personal Interview Rounds. A separate Institute wise merit list will be prepared and this merit list will be declared based on individual admission and selection criteria.

IIM Sirmaur, IIM Jammu, IIM Nagpur will release their own merit list according to the CAT score or percentile and profile of the Candidate. There are no further rounds for these Institutions.

The B schools which do not fall under IIMs will conduct their own selection process. The process of selection such as Group Discussion, Written Ability Test and Personal Interview are conducted at the Institution's discretion.

IMT Ghaziabad, MICA conduct group activity or group exercise instead of group discussion. Some Institutioms also conduct Written Ability Test and Personal Interviews after Group Discussion.

Required percentiles:

FMS, Delhi needs 95 percentile.

IIM Shillong: 92 percentile

NITIE Mumbai: 91 percentile

IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, IIM Indore, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Tiruchirapalli, MDI Gurgaon, IIM Udaipur, IIM Rohtak, IIM Ranchi, IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IMT Ghaziabad, IMI New Delhi, XIM Bhubaneshwar and New IIMS need 90 percentile.

For ex; IIM Khozikhode Admission Criteria for 2019- 21; Shortlisting criteria:

Hi Pabitra,

As per the information provided by you, i am really sorry to say that your marks are very low. It is really tough for you to get into IIMS. Also since you do not have any work experience, therefore your admission into IIM gets more tough. Though if you start working hard and manage to get a percentile above 96 percentile, then you can get into top bschools of india..

Hope this helps.. Good Luck...

Hii..

Viewing your previous academic records I will say that the possibility of IIM is quite difficult for you if you are a General candidate.

Sorry to tell you that your admission at IIM is only possible if you score above 99 percentile in CAT exam if you are a General candidate.

But if you are from reserved category then there have some possibilities and the better thing is that you are a non engineer candidate so it is going to work positively for you.

Work hard and let your hard work pay for you success.

Hope it helps.

Best of luck.
