Your current profile matters the most than your past result,Obviously they have slight role but if you are in B.Tech and you placement happens in 7th sem,then the first point that matters is your CGPA of all the semesters till now.

With your marks your extra curricular activities also matter,Like your internship,overall development etc.

So you should have a good academic profile as well as extra activities.
