Hello candidate,

A dipole refers to a system of charges of opposite nature placed within an electric field having an angle theta with respect to electric field.

As, deposit nature of charges produces forces in opposite direction and we know that the expression for potential energy is equal to dipole moment dot product electric field, which is p.e

So, the final expression for potential energy of the total system is equal to pe* (cos 1- cos2).

Have a good day.
