For any government college the fees for hostel is less than fees for hostels of private colleges. For student hostels in the government sector such as the DU university mess charges rs2880 per month+5% GST. For JNU there are 18 hostels for boys and girls. Outsider students get the first preference for getting a seat in the hostel. Mess charges varies from rs 4000 to rs 5000 per month. There are different rates for single or double bed seats in JNU hostel. In Pune Maharashtra in private colleges like symbiosis groups of Institutions is h i g h e r then other Government College hostels in Pune. Such hostel fees of symbiosis group of Institutions  ranges from 30000 to 50000 per month. It technical institutes in the private sector colleges the hostel fees vary from rs 25000 to rs 30000 per month. Hostel fees for NIT s very from 25000 to 30000 per semester, for IIT hostel fees in general thriughout India from rs 25000 to rs 30000 per semester
