Dear Jeevak,

Core Subjects are mandatory subjects or basic subject that you must study to meet the needs of the program. Basically, core subjects give you the ground knowledge of the subject.

Whereas, Honours subject is specialization in a particular subject that is you will study that subject in deep with reasearch work if required as per curriculum.

These core and hons. subjects differ from degree to degree. For example, if you choose Bsc. Non Medical, in this you will study core subjects that are Physics, Chemistry, Maths but not a particular subject will be focused. Each subject will be of equal importance.

On the other hand, if you choose suppose Bsc.hons. in physics, in this you will no doubt study thrre combination of non-medical that are Physics, Chemistry, Maths but Physics will be of higher priority. And maths and chemistry will be lesser taught when compared with Physics.

Hope this sorted out your query.
