Difference between Primary succession and secondary succession

Hello Aspirant,

Succession as progressive change in an ecological community. There are two types of succession: Primary and Secondary succession.

Primary succession occurs when new land is formed or bare rock is exposed, providing a habitat that can be colonized for the first time.

Whereas In secondary succession, a previously occupied area is re-colonized following a disturbance that kills much or all of its community.
