Correct Answer: 13
Solution : Given: Total number of students = 50 Number of students who play hockey = 25 Number of students who play football = 30 Number of students who play neither sport = 8
Let the number of students that participate in both football and hockey = a. ⇒ 50 = 25 + 30 – a + 8 ⇒ 50 = 55 – a + 8 ⇒ a = 55 + 8 – 50 ⇒ a = 63 – 50 = 13
So, 13 students play both football and hockey. Hence, the fourth option is correct.
