Question : Directions: In the following question, a word is represented by only one set of numbers as given in any one of the alternatives. The sets of numbers given in the alternatives are represented by two classes of alphabets as in the two matrices, given below. The columns and rows of Matrix (I) are numbered from 7 to 10 and those of Matrix (II) are numbered from 2 to 6. A letter from these matrices can be represented first by its row and next by its column, e.g. D can be represented by 23 and 32. Similarly, you have to identify the set for the word — DOSSIER.

Option 1: 23, 54, 710, 25, 66, 26, 36

Option 2: 32, 35, 56, 44, 25, 78, 52

Option 3: 23, 43, 66, 26, 54, 35, 56

Correct Answer: 32, 54, 710, 87, 25, 24, 66

Solution : Given:
DOSSIER

Number representations of each letter –
D→23, 32, 44
O→52, 54
S→35, 56, 78, 87, 710
S→35, 56, 78, 87, 710
I→25, 79
E→24, 43, 64, 108
R→26, 66, 1010

Let's check the options –
First option23, 54, 710, 25, 66, 26, 36 – S cannot be represented by 25; I cannot be represented as 66; E cannot be represented as 26; R cannot be represented as 36.
Second option32, 35, 56, 44, 25, 78, 52 – O cannot be represented by 35; S cannot be represented as 44; E cannot be represented as 78; R cannot be represented as 52.
Third option23, 43, 66, 26, 54, 35, 56 – O cannot be represented by 43; S cannot be represented by 66; S cannot be represented as 26; I cannot be represented as 54; E cannot be represented as 35; R cannot be represented as 56.
Fourth option32, 54, 710, 87, 25, 24, 66 – All the letters of the word DOSSIER can be represented through this option.

So, only through the numbers given in the fourth option, the word DOSSIER can be represented. Hence, the fourth option is correct.
