Solution : Given: 10 : 45 :: ? : 28 :: 11 : 55
Like, 10 : 45→(10 ÷ 2) × (10 – 1) = 5 × 9 = 45 And, 11 : 55→(11 ÷ 2) × (11 – 1) = 5.5 × 10 = 55 Similarly, for (? : 28)→(X ÷ 2) × (X – 1) = 28 ⇒ (X) × (X – 1) = 28 × 2 ⇒ (X) × (X – 1) = 56 ⇒ X2 – X – 56 = 0 ⇒ (X – 8)(X + 7) = 0 ⇒ X = either 8 or –7. As value can not be negative. So, X = 8.
So, 8 is related to 28. Hence, the second option is correct.
