U need not do mba again after PGDM instead u can do ua mphil and then do doctorate 

or u can also appear for NET EXAM ( NATIONAL ELIGIBLITY TEST) CONDUCTED BY NTA yearly twice for JRF ( JUNIOUR RESEARCHSHIP FELLOW ) OR LECTURERSHIP 

Once u get qualified in JRF U CAN APPLY TO RESPECTIVE UNIVERSITY N DO UA RESEARCH AND GET DOCTORATE DEGREE ALONG WITH SCLORSHIP.

And Coming to “PGDM is offered by an autonomous institute wherein it should be approved by AICTE. Since institutes secure autonomy they design their own curriculum, which is based on contemporary/future industry requirements instead of following University syllabus which may be outdated.” Even IIMs and XLRI’s don’t offer MBA degrees. They give only PGP Diploma or PGDM since they are autonomous and independent bodies. Typically if any PGDM is to be equivalent to MBA then the college offering the PGDM course must have accreditation from AIU (The Association of Indian Universities).

This means to consider PGDM equivalent to MBA a college requires AIU accreditation. This will help if you want to do Ph.D or secure government jobs. Otherwise AICTE accreditation is enough to grant PGDM degrees and hold placements.
