The answer is no. Not at all. Actually economics is not the only criteria all you need to pass class 12 with minimum 50%. I am also a BBA student so i can give you a in-depth analysis of admission. While doing BBA you get one paper of economics in the first year itself and the years varies according to different universities. All you need to know is there are 18 papers in totality ( annual scheme BBA ) and economics is just one paper you need to pass if you are not from commerce background. The level of economics comes in graduation is of moderate level so don't need to worry about this fact.
Kindly specify whether you are from commerce background or science background? Do you have economics in your schooling? Currently you are in which class ?
Actually I am asking all this because you are from different background then you can purchase any economics book and study according to your syllabus if you are doing BBA or you can take coaching classes regarding that one paper. If you are in school then do take economics as your subject as it will further assist you in BBA.

Economic studies is not mandatory, only valid class 12 score is needed. However, It should be part of curriculum once you pursue BBA and have to get through it to understand financial markets and management.

There is no need to have economic subject in class 12 to pursue BBA .But for further growth and knowledge you have to study economic subject in BBA programme not in very higher side .
