Kartik you can compare in two ways like :

Firstly , in the toughness point of view both are almost same only both the entrance exam have the different priority at the different stage level. But yaah in Comparison to JEE mains the GATE is more tough & in comparison to JEE Advance it is almost equal.
Regarding the authorities point of view then yaah IIT-JEE and both GATE is conducted by the authorities of IIT only so both are having the almost same scenario.
For preparation , both are at the different parameters so preparation is also different.
