Yes , it is mandatory to qualify neet for bhms, without qualifying neet you cannot pursue bhms not even in private medical colleges as for medical courses like mbbs, bds, bams, bhms etc qualifying neet is mandatory. Leave private colleges,  you cannot pursue these medical colleges even in foriegn country without clearing neet,  so there'sno option other than neet.
