Delhi University will implement a 10 percent increase in the total number of seats offered by it to accommodate the EWS reservation quota for poor students from the general category. Officials from Delhi University said that the increase in number of seats will be implemented from the coming academic session. The decision comes in the wake of HRD ministry’s 10% reservation for EWS quota for the students from economically weaker section form General Category. Earlier the ministry had directed all higher education institutions and universities to increase the total number of seats offered by them by 25% to accommodate the EWS quota.

The first phase will be implemented from coming academic session in which the number of seats will be increased by 10% while the second phase will see the number of seats increase by 15% in the 2020-21 academic session.
