The counselling for GATE candidates is based on the merit list that is created based on the marks scored in GATE. A completely separate merit list is created for candidates who will be taking admission using GATE marks.

You can visit https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/tancet-cutoff to get information regarding the GATE cutoff marks for different streams in the previous years.
