The answer to your question depends on the type of job you are looking for.

1. If you are looking for a SOFTWARE JOB, both the branches would fetch you equal opportunities. On-Campus recruitment treats ECE and EEE grads equally. However, having knowledge about basic programming languages like C and JAVA would give you an edge over others.
2. If you are looking for a Government job, EEE would have a greater scope. Electric power is controlled by the government. You have plenty of job opportunities for EEE students in GENCO,TRANSCO,DISCOM and industries/PSU’s like SAIL, POWERGRID, NTPC, IOCL, HPCL etc. You can get into these by getting a good GATE score. The average pay package would be 8L p.a.
3. ECE also has govt. job opportunities but the number of jobs offered would be less. However you can go to DRDO, BSNL, AIR etc.
4. If you are looking for a private job, once again, both the branches have equal opportunities in terms of designing, manufacturing and production.
