Dear aspirant,

If you were to take my opinion then I would recommend you to kindly make sure that you get into the top colleges through mhcet and if you want computer science branch in the college then for sure you need atleast 1k -2k rank in your examination.

If you want core branches like mechanical , chemical then you would require little less ranks. However various factors are considered while deciding the cut offs like number of candidates appearing in the examination, number of vacant seats in college, previous years cut offs and difficulty level of the paper.
