Hii Shivam,

In order to enable the Economically weaker section (EWSs) who are not covered under the existing scheme of reservations for scheduled castes, the Scheduled Tribes and the Socially  and Educationallly backward class,to receive the benifits of resevations on a preferential basis in civil posts and services in the Government of India and admission in Educational Institutions,it has been decided by the Government to provide 10% reservation to EWSs in civil posts and services in Government of India and admission in Educational Institutions.

Hey Shivam,

As we all know this EWS(Economically Weaker Section) category is newly implemented this year along with other categories such as General, OBC(Other Backward Castes), SC/ST(Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes), PWD(Person With Disability) etc, it is difficult to make a prediction of the exact rank to qualify the jee mains paper 1 examination. We can just make an approximation by calculating certain factors associated with it. All those general category candidates whose family income is less than 8 lakh rupees per annum will be eligible for this Economically Weaker Section criteria.

From this year, that is 2019, HRD ministry has announced that it will implement a 10 per cent reservation for the students of general category candidates who can meet the EWS criteria which will, in turn, increase the number of seats for that particular category.

This means that a general category candidate meeting the required criteria of EWS category is entitled to 10 per cent reservation and hence the cut-offs marks will be lower for them in comparision to the other candidates not meeting the EWS criteria. All those cut-offs for various central funded government institutes will be a little lower as compared to the previous years.

I hope I have answered your question. For any other query, feel free to contact anytime.

Thank You.
